Sean Hampsey is one of Australia's most prolific singer/songwriters, having produced over 20 albums, ranging from country to ballads to love songs to gospel. In addition he has released numerous singles covering subjects such as war, politics, ethical matters and patriotic themes.
More than most Australians, Sean knows the "real" Australia. After arriving in here from Ireland in the 60's, he decided to see more of his new home - the hard way. Heading north he bought a saddle horse, a couple of pack horses and two dogs. Well equipped and provisioned, he set out with old and current stock route maps to see Australia as the stockmen and early pioneers did. After 15 months, over 2000 km and many adventures, he headed back home. These travels inspired a number of songs and a three-act play.
He records with
Doghouse Studio and recently released this "Aus Country Music" compilation album, featuring the best of his country songs. You can download a sample MP3 of "Tamworth" (see below).
He released several new CDs in 2007 including
"Wild Eagles",
"A Slow Australian Morn" and singles,
"Death of the Redman" and
"83 Red Roses", about the Granville Train Disaster.
